NatureHolic Proteinfeed shrimp food is a special protein food for shrimp with increased protein requirements, for example, during growth, breeding, and for shrimp like Macrobrachium, which prefer a carnivorous diet. Amano shrimp—especially the females—also require more protein than other dwarf shrimp species. NatureHolic Proteinfeed is also excellent for carnivorous and omnivorous crabs, dwarf crayfish, and crayfish. It’s also great for aquarium snails to build a robust protective layer on their calcareous shells.
If shrimp fry fail to thrive, the cause is often a deficiency of essential nutrients in the females—if the foundation isn’t right, the eggs won’t develop. NatureHolic Proteinfeed provides everything female shrimp, crabs, and crayfish need for egg development and high egg quality.
The crude protein content is deliberately kept below 40%, so that shedding problems due to excessive protein intake can be ruled out.
We consciously avoid fishmeal and other low-quality animal meals. The proteins and amino acids in Proteinfeed come exclusively from insects, plants, and Arctic krill. In addition to valuable proteins, insects and krill also contain nutritionally beneficial chitin, which shrimp and crayfish use for shell formation, and the molting and growth hormone ecdysone, which has a decidedly positive effect on the growth, molting, fertility, and reproductive capacity of shrimp and crayfish.
To specifically prevent deficiencies, we have incorporated our vitamin mix: Vitamin D3 for the calcium metabolism of shrimp, crayfish and crabs as important support during molting, Vitamin A for the development of the subcutaneous tissue and eggs, to support the immune system and especially as an antioxidant to protect against reactive molecules and bacteria, and Vitamin C, which is also an important antioxidant and is also needed for smooth molting.
Our proven mineral mix contains iron (Fe), zinc (Zn), and manganese (Mn), which are essential trace elements for shrimp to produce a variety of important enzymes, thus ensuring smooth molting. Trace elements are also necessary for the formation of various hormones and for protein production, and can therefore support the normal growth of shrimp, crayfish, and crabs.
The soft food pads sink immediately, so they are available to the shrimp without any waiting time. Our soft pads are significantly more water-stable than a food paste; however, we still recommend using our special shrimp feeding dishes for serving.
Feeding recommendation: Feed 1-2 times daily, giving only as much as the shrimp can consume in a few minutes. Feed sparingly; a 5mm pad is usually sufficient for 15-25 shrimp.
